Team Milram starts in Vuelta a Burgos

Team MILRAM is starting in the 30th Vuelta a Burgos (UCI 2.HC) as of Tuesday, August 5.  The MILRAM team, led by Slovakian youngster Martin Velits and climbing specialist Sergio Ghisalberti, will use the five-stage race to prepare for the Vuelta a Espana (30.08 -21.09).  Directeur Sportif Oscar Pellicioli will also for help from Germans Markus Eichler and Enrico Poitschke, as well as Italians Luca Barla and Fabio Sabatini.  In the sprint finishes, the German ProTour team will look to the fast legs of Elia Rigotto and Alberto Ongarato.



The cyclists will cover a total of 800 kilometers during the five days in and around the Spanish city of Burgos in Castille.  Climbs of the first and second category wait for the riders, starting with the first stage from Medina de Pomar up until the fifth stage on Saturday, August 9, in Neila, about 90 kilometres southeast of Burgos.  The climbers have dominated the Burgos race in the past, with specialists like Mauricio Soler, Iban Mayo and Alejandro Valverde winning the overall title.  No German has ever won the race.

06.08. 2. Stage: Belorado - Miranda de Ebro (185,9 km)

07.08. 3. Stage: Melgar de Fernamental - Burgos (149,3 km)

08.08. 4. Stage: Burgos - Aranda de Duero (162,1 km)

09.08. 5. Stage: Areniscas de los Pinaros - Lagunas de Neila (155 km)
