Gordon Thomas was born in Shipley on 18th August 1921. Joined the
Yorkshire Road Club at the age of 12 (hence "Tiny"). Educated at Salts
Grammar (with Len Hutton). Biggest regret - declining the invitation to
ride in the Tour de France in '54. He had all his trophies, including
the '53 cup, stolen from his home several years ago. He hasn't been in
the best of health during this past year or so, but was still playing a
bit of golf not so long ago. Both knees worn out and replaced and he has
had surgery this spring which has taken a lot out of him.
