Man plans and G-d Laughs. The Tour of California was moved from February to May so the guys could ride in California Sunshine. Unfortunately, nobody told the weather. The Tour ran today in rain and cold from Davis into Santa Rosa. The downhill from the mountains was especially brutal, as numerous riders slid off the road as they came downhill at speed.

Coming into Santa Rosa, it was a rain fractured field with Leipheimer, Armstrong, Thomson, Horner, Schleck and Zabriske and others in the lead, with Chased by a second group with Fabian Cancelara, Mark Cavendish and Tom Boonen and others trying to close the gap

In the end it was Bret Lancaster of Cervelo Test. He was the only Cervelo rider in the final breakaway. With his 10 second bonus, he’ll likely take over the overall lead today. Sagan,Menzies, Boom and Sutherland , Rabou, de Maar take 2,3 and 4.
