Team Milram has signed cyclist Roger Kluge. The 23-year-old signed during the Amsterdam Six Days a one-year contract with the German ProTour racing team. Next to the signing of the man from Brandenburg, the team also extended the contract with Artur Gajek until the end of season 2010.

“Roger Kluge is a tall, very athletic cyclist”, said Gerry van Gerwen, General Manager, about the new signing. “With his charisma and his potential he will be able to gain a lot of respect within the peloton, similar for example to Christian Knees. With his qualities as a cyclist he will be especially helpful for Gerald Ciolek in the sprint preparation between 800 and 500 meters.”

Roger Kluge, who is changing from the LKT Team Brandenburg to Milram, is the fifth new member of the German ProTour racing team. Before him, the current German U23 champion Dominik Nerz, the Australian Luke Roberts and the Belgians Roy Sentjens and Wim De Vocht also joined the team. Over the last two years, Kluge enjoyed success most of all on the track. In 2008, he won a silver medal at the Olympics in Peking and became Scratch World Cup Winner. In 2007, he became joint Madison European Champion in Gent with his Partner Robert Bartko.

Artur Gajek from Bergisch-Gladbach is the fifth cyclist from the current racing squad who extended his expiring contract for another year, after Björn Schröder, Servais Knaven, Dominik Roels and Robert Förster. “Artur has shown hints of his potential plenty of times, and it is only a matter of time until he will learn to fulfill it”, said Gerry van Germen. “At 24, he is one of our young cyclists who will still develop. For that he will need time, which we will give him.”
