Vincenzo Nibali king of the Appennino

The awaited success, finally, is arrived. Vincenzo Nibali, the promise of team Liquigas, has conquered today on the finish line of Pontedecimo the 70th “Giro dell’Appennino”. For the young rider is the first success of the season. Nibali is arrived with 1’20’’ of advantage on the first group, after a lonely action at the feet of the hardest climb, la Bocchetta, and improved on the descend.

«During this season I tried many times a similar action – affirms Nibali – but, till now, I never concluded with a victory. Today, thanks also to a superb work of the team that supported me till the beginning, I win. I have faced this engagement after a training period in mountain in view of the Tour de France and I knew that my condition was growing. The victory of today comfort me: I’m very trustful for the future».

The races program of Nibali presents, in few days, the important appointment of the Italian Championship, the last step before the Tour de France. «To avoid the bad luck I don’t want make any prevision but my form, for Imola, is great. The route is interesting, hard as I like. But to win I need also a bit of luck because there will be many contenders: I only hope that, after a first part of the season at high level but without victories, the fate could smile me».
