Led by allrounder Christian Knees, the German ProTour team will tackle the 65th edition of the Dauphine Libere (June 7–14/UCI category ProTour) as of next Sunday. Besides the Euskirchen native, sports director Vittorio Algeri counts on Germans  Fabian Wegmann, Christian Kux, Dominik Roels and Paul Voss, as well as on the two Dutchmen Servais Knaven and Niki Terpstra and on Martin Velits of Slovakia.

„Our goal is to make the best possible appearance and to be at the front in a couple of stages, too,” said Christian Knees. „It’s a very hard race, and thereby good preparation for the Tour de France. I was very satisfied with my level of performance at the Tour of Bavaria and we will now see where I stand compared to international top riders.”

Opening this year’s Dauphine Libere will be a 12.1km-long prologue in the city of Nancy. From there, the race includes eight stages, totaling 1,027.5km until its finish in Grenoble. Being an important race for riders preparing the Tour de France, the Dauphine features a 42.4km-long individual time trial as well as four challenging mountain stages, including a mountain top finish on the Mont Ventoux. Along with the Tour de Suisse, traditionally beginning one week later, the Dauphine is one of the last preparation races for the Tour de France taking place in July. Riders aim at a good general classification placing, hoping for the last remaining slots on their respective Tour de France team rosters.
