Team Milram is sending eight riders to the start Tuesday of the Tour de Romandie (28.05-03.05/UCI ProTour).  The German ProTour team will be lead by Markus Fothen.  The allrounder showed increasingly good form at the Tour of Turkey and is going into Romandie with good memories:  in 2007, while riding for Team Gerolsteiner, he won a stage in Switzerland.

„Our goal is a stage win and a forward place in the overall ranking,“ said Ralf Grabsch, who together with Italian Vittorio Algeri will serve as Directeur Sportif in Romandie.  „The race profile this year is good for us and I am confident that we will have a successful tour.“

Sprinter Robert Förster had to cancel his start at the last minute.  The sprinter, who celebrated his victory for in the Tour of Turkey, is suffering from a cold and has to take a break from racing.  He will be replaced by Luca Barla of Italy.

The stage race through western Switzerland marks the beginning of the final preparations for the Giro d'Italia, which starts in Venice on May 9.  Much of the team which will ride in the six-day race through the french-speaking part of Switzerland will also be at the Italian race.

For the sometimes challenging tour, which starts on Tuesday with a 3.1 km long prologue in Lausanne and ends on May 3 with a mountain stage in Geneva, Team Milram has put together a good mixture of young and experienced riders, which will suit all the terrain featured in this race.  The  decision over the final winner will probably not be made until the final stage.  Until then are three climbing stages, one flat stage and a team time trial.

The team for the Tour de Romandie: Luca Barla (ITA/ Sanremo-Imperia), Markus Fothen (GER/Kaarst), Thomas Fothen (GER/Kaarst), Martin Müller (GER/Berlin), Dominik Roels (GER/Köln), Thomas Rohregger (AUT/Kramsach), Ronny Scholz (GER/Herrenberg), Paul Voß (GER/Bielefeld)

Directeurs Sportif: Vittorio Algeri (ITA), Ralf Grabsch (GER)
