Competing in the cantons

Tour of Switzerland starts on Saturday, 14th June, from Langnau im Emmental and covers the whole of the Swiss Confederation in nine stages. The race is famous for the variety offered by the different stages and offers great opportunities to all types of riders. After 1,411 kilometres, the group will finish their tiring trek in the Swiss capital of Bern on Sunday, 22nd June: but a determining factor for the general classification will be the timed climb on the penultimate day from Altdorf to Klausenpass, when the cyclists have to climb from 458 to 1,948 metres above sea level in just 25 kilometres. Team Liquigas has full respect for the Swiss race and has entered two of its top riders, Pippo Pozzato and Roman Kreuziger, who, after the Tour de Luxembourg, are doing well in their build-up to the Tour de France. One rider who really wants to win is the Swiss Michael Albasini, who proved he’s in tip-top condition last Saturday by winning a stage in Luxembourg. The other boys in blue and green are Claudio Corioni, Murilo Fischer, Enrico Franzoi, Ivan Santaromita and Alessandro Vanotti. Captaining the fleet is directeurs sportif Mario Scirea and Mario Chiesa.
