Team MILRAM has signed Servais Knaven for a year.  The 37 year old Classics specialist signed a one-year contract with the German ProTour team.  The Dutchman becomes the ninth addition to Team MILRAM for the 2009 season.

„Servais is noted for his vast experience and his knowledge of the course of practically every one-day Classic in Europe“, said Gerry van Gerwen, general manager of Team MILRAM.  „He will help us, especially in the Spring Classics, to bring our top riders into the right position at the right time.  We look forward to strengthening our team with such an experienced rider.“

The Classics and stage race specialist changes from Team Columbia to the Dortmund-based team.  The 37 year-old was Netherlands national champion in 1995 and had his biggest success in 2001, when he won the tradition one-day Classic race Paris-Roubaix.  The allrounder has ridden the Tour de France nine times, the Vuelta a Espana four times and the Giro d'Italia once.

Three MILRAM riders have already extended their contracts through 2010, Tour captain Christian Knees, Markus Eichler and Dutch youngster Niki Terpstra.  Björn Schröder, 27, signed a one-year extension.  In addition, Team MILRAM has signed Germans Paul Voss (Team 3C-Gruppe), Johannes Fröhlinger, Matthias Russ, Thomas and Markus Fothen, and Fabian Wegmann (all Team Gerolsteiner), as well as Dutch rider Wim Stroetinga (Ubbink-Syntec) and Austrian Thomas Rohregger (Elk Haus-Simplon), to make eight additional riders for the coming two years.
